Maybe our first thought would be to picture someone tied with rope, or in some form of bondage; but a broader interpretation might be to remember we can be home-bound, or snowbound, or bound to memories from the past. We can be bound to a partner, a crush, an idea … or a post. As gay men, we are intimately acquainted with the concept on many levels. At some point or other, through exploration of leather, or a Tuesday night love-making session, we have experienced that feeling of bindings, literally or emotionally … savagely or softly. This is about your interpretation. In Paradise Lost, Milton wrote “The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven…” How does your mind affect your ties?
